Dangerous fishing conditions update © RFA of NSW
Why
A ridge of high pressure extending from a high over the Tasman is receding while a significant cold front is entering the far west Wednesday, directing strong to gale-force north to northeasterly airstream over the coast.
Winds will turn westerly early Thursday as the front moves across the coast, while maintaining gale force southwesterly along the south coast as the low that forms within the cold front heads off to the far southeast on Thursday morning. Winds will decrease later in the week as a high over the Bight extends a ridge across the NSW coast.
Where
On Thursday from Illawarra down to Eden coasts, seas will be 3 to 5 metres and swell (mixed north easterly and southerly) will be 4 metres.
Swell period
The time between swells will be around 11 seconds.
Warning
BOM is warning that for these waters on Thursday, conditions will be dangerous for rock fishing and crossing bars.
