Medway Yacht Club Autumn Series 2023 Preview - Finish the season in style

by Medway Yacht Club 7 Sep 2023 03:13 PDT 29 October - 26 November 2023

Medway Yacht Club looks forward to hosting their 2023 Autumn Series, a five-race series running from Sunday 29th October finishing on Sunday 26th November with a traditional prize-giving lunch after the last race.

Handicaps, Classes, Prizes, Entry

All boats will be ranked using their YTC handicaps, divided into classes based on the entries received and prizes awarded accordingly. YTC certificates can be obtained free of charge from www.swytc.org.uk/index.asp. Prizes will also be awarded based on IRC handicaps where an IRC certificate has been submitted and the boats are in classes that have sailed the same course.

Entry, Moorings, Parking, Services

The Entry Form and more information can be found on the Medway Yacht Club website. The cost of entry is £40 for the series or £10 per race. This includes moorings for visiting boats for the period of the Series on a first come first served basis, use of the trot boat service, use of the Medway Yacht Club and parking. These moorings can be requested on the entry form. Services such as use of the scrubbing trolley is allowed during the Series but requires the guidance of the bosun (yard team) and will incur additional charges. These services can be booked via the office. Good value meals and drinks are available at the Medway Yacht Club and are paid for at the time.

Timetable

Breakfast will be available from 07:30 each race day in the club house (full English or a take way bacon/sausage bap and coffee will be available). It is intended that racing will start at 10:00 with a Committee Boat starts down river. The Committee Boat location will be notified by VHF channel 72 and may also be on the WhatsApp Autumn Series group. The time limit for racing will be 15:00. The Race Officer will make every effort to set courses that can be finished well within this time and will shorten the course if timing is looking problematic and it is feasible.
