Before the end of September, the European Sailing Federation will be opening its EUROSAF Sailing Academy Centre in Los Alcázares, Murcia, in Spain. The Centre will be used by EUROSAF itself and will be available to all Members on request.

Sailing activities will comprise:

  • International sailing academy
    • trainings
    • courses
    • clinics
    • seminars
  • Sailing venue for international events and competitions
  • Other activities related to sailing at an international level

The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, in an ambitious plan to internationalize in sailing its successful and well-equipped high performance sports centre, agreed to assign part of the facilities to EUROSAF to create the Sailing Academy. After completion of some renovation work, the activities will start in a few weeks. The first event held under the new arrangement will be the 2023 EUROSAF Inclusive European Championship from 23 to 30 September 2023.

In addition to training and education opportunities, the Centre also provides auxiliary services like accommodation, meals, classrooms, gyms, etc., managed by the Region.

The geographical location in the southeast of Spain, accessible from Alicante airport, has the enormous advantage that high-level sailing is possible here all year round, with wonderful winter conditions. The Mar Menor area is enclosed and therefore has virtually no waves, making it especially suitable for foiling disciplines. This EUROSAF Sailing Academy is ideal for many Member Federations to hold winter training courses or other activities.

Further information is available at www.eurosaf-academy.com.

"Thanks to the generous support we benefit from in Austria with our secretariat in Neusiedl am See since 2017, EUROSAF has been able to develop its projects and services to Members enormously. In a similar way, the EUROSAF Sailing Academy Centre in Spain opens up new opportunities to expand the reach of activities we provide our Members with. We can now use and offer them top level, all-year round facilities for all kinds of international sailing projects, be it competition or training, in a privileged setting," says EUROSAF president Josep M. Pla.
