Many of Australia's most celebrated sailors, started their careers at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's Youth Sailing Academy (YSA).

On Friday 15 September, the CYCA will proudly celebrate the YSA's 30th anniversary, by inviting members of the sailing community to a special dinner at the Club.

America's Cup legend John Bertrand AO and skipper of Andoo Comanche John Winning Jnr are keynote speakers, who will entertain and inspire the room with some of their favourite sailing anecdotes.

CYCA Commodore Arthur Lane said: "Over the years, the YSA has provided scores of young girls and boys with the opportunity to either learn the basics of sailing, or to help make the successful transition from dinghies to keelboat sailing. Through its holiday camps, as well as school and community programs, the Youth Sailing Academy has nurtured them, brought families together and ignited the passion for the sport of sailing in so many individuals.

"We are proud that since 1993, the Youth Sailing Academy has developed into one of the world's leading full-time youth sailing academies, with more than 500 graduates who have gone on to compete at major events around the world. These have included the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, Olympic Games, America's Cup, SailGP, The Ocean Race and the World Match Racing Tour. We can't wait to see all our Members and sailing community at this wonderful event."

Many YSA alumni still participate in sailing today and are proud Members of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. To celebrate this milestone, the CYCA invites guests to the YSA 30th Anniversary Dinner, where many former participants and staff will be in attendance.

Throughout the night, there will be a number of fundraising opportunities including a live and silent auction held for a range of items and money can't buy experiences. This fundraising will allow the Club to continue to foster the development of our world class program and sailors.

The event includes canapes, main and dessert as well as champagne on arrival and a selection of wine, tap beer and soft drinks throughout the night.

Food and beverages will be tailored for the event by The Boathouse Group who joins the CYCA officially as its hospitality partner from 1 September.

Tickets: CYCA Member $195pp; Non-Member $215pp
RSVP: 8 September 2023

Those who are unable attend, are welcome to make a tax deductible donation towards the Academy through the Australia Sports Foundation: asf.org.au/donate/cruising-yacht-club-of-australia/youth-sailing-academy
