The Santa Barbara Yacht Club hosted the 17th annual Fiesta Cup in gorgeous Santa Barbara, California from July 21-23, 2023. The sailing was challenging and after two days the SBYC RC PRO team managed to run six races for the enthusiastic J/70 teams.

Eleven boats showed up from across southern California. It was a very close battle for the podium between four teams that all had experience at the national level. Notably, racing was so tight, that five different boats won the six races! In the end, Ryan Cox's DJ won with a record of 6-1-1-4-2-4 for 12 pts net. Just two points in arrears was Pat Toole's 3 BIG DOGS team with a 3-5-3-2-1-9 tally for 14 pts net. Yet just three more points back was Scott Deardorff's CAKE with a 2-7-4-9-3-1 scoreline for 17 pts net. Close racing amongst that trio until the very last race! Rounding out the top five was Curt Johnson's AVET 2.01 in fourth place and Bruce Cooper & Eduardo Saenz's NIMBUS taking 5th place.
