Kialoa II’s immensely experienced navigator Lindsay May takes us on the route to the Fastnet Rock and back to Cherbourg, explaining the critical decision points on the course, many of which centre on which side of the Traffic Separation Schemes to sail, given prevailing tide and wind conditions as you approach. Get those choices right and you can gain valuable miles; get them wrong and it can ruin your race!
