Tasar National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 1

by Rick Perkins 7 Jul 2023 14:19 PDT 7-9 July 2023

The fleet were warmly welcomed by both the weather and Paignton Sailing Club volunteers as the competitors assembled ready for the first day. The wind was light at 6-8 knots, but steady in direction.

The fleet launched in good time for the PSC race team to get the first race off on schedule.

A really tight and tactical race ensued with plenty of place changing. Steve Cockerill and Graham Williamson took the win from David and Fiona Sayce who recovered from mid fleet to take 2nd place, with Stephan Heim and Susanne Schwickert from Germany in 3rd.

The race team quickly turned the race around and the 2nd race got under way first time.

Again, Steve and Graham lead and at the finish, Jeremy and Susanne Hawkins took second with Rick and Sarah Perkins third.

That was the end of the racing for day one and shortly the fleet will be tucking into their fish and chip supper.

All to play for tomorrow. 3 races are scheduled.
