Italy is once again the protagonist of the international events promoted by J/70 Class, one-design boat that, almost ten years after its launch, continues to obtain record numbers in circuits all over the world.

J/70 Italian Class, already protagonist of record-breaking international events such as the 2017 Porto Cervo World Championship, 2019 Malcesine European Championship and responsible for the organization of the 2024 European Championship in Punta Ala, this year was involved by J/70 International Class in a new challenge, the Corinthian World Cup. The event will be held in Riva del Garda, thanks to the organizational support of Fraglia Vela Riva, between June 1st and 4th.

At its first edition in history, the Corinthian World Cup aims to involve only non-professional crews, an important component of the J/70 fleets that race globally. The idea was immediately welcomed by the members of the class who, when registration opened, filled the 80 places made available by the organization in less than an hour. There will be twenty nations represented, including Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Uruguay and a large presence of European states.

Several well-known crews from the international Corinthian scene will get in the water, including Gianfranco Noè's White Hawk, world champion in Porto Cervo 2017, the vice-world champion in California (2021) on Andrew Loe's Dime, Thomas Studer's Swiss Jerry, fifth at the 2022 World Championship in Monaco and frequent visitor to the J/70 Cup circuit organized by J/70 Italian Class, as well as a large group of Italian crews - thirteen in total - who, in their home waters, will try to put the seal on the first edition of the J/70 Corinthian World Cup.

"We're finally here, the key appointment of the season, the most demanding organizational challenge of the year for J/70 Italian Class - said the President of J/70 Italian Class, Federico Siragna, to continue - We want to welcome these 80 crews in the best possible way, to let them discover the beauties not only of our race courses, but also of the territories we visit and which always welcome us warmly. Thanks to Fraglia Vela Riva for the precious organizational support and the hospitality, as well as to J/70 International Class for having believed in the Italian Class and having chosen it as a partner in organizing this first edition of the Corinthian World Cup. Last but not least, thanks to the staff of J/70 Italian Class, which has been working for months to make this event and our J/70 Cup circuit successful".

"Build it, and they will come. The new Corinthian World Cup racing format celebrates the Corinthian spirit and recognises its importance for our future growth. Only J/70, the largest and fastest-growing modern sport keelboat class, can assemble such a large international event reserved for Corinthians" stated Vittorio Di Mauro, President, of International J/70 Class Association.

The words of the President of Fraglia Vela Riva, Andrea Camin, are also full of pride: "The regatta promises to be exciting, offering emotions both in the water and on land. Fraglia, in collaboration with J/70 Class, has planned a series of social events to ensure participants pleasant moments even once back in port, precious for sharing experiences, exchanging opinions and creating new friendships in the world of sailing. On behalf of Fraglia, I thank in advance the association "La Bacionella", chosen to underline the importance to involve associations that work for solidarity and the local community".

The activities will start tomorrow, Wednesday 31 May, with the completion of the registrations and, at 19.00, the opening ceremony, which will welcome the participants in Alto Garda and officially kick off the first edition of the Corinthian World Cup.

J/70 Italian Class is supported, for the 2023 season, by Lincoln International, Alphazer, Garmin, Armare Ropes, Serena Wines, Vela Mania, Zhik, UtilGraph, IPA and OneOcean Foundation.
