Just when we thought we had seen the IMOCAs at full noise in the Southern Ocean, their blast across the North Atlantic from Newport USA to Aarhus, Denmark set a completely new benchmark.

When it comes to clocking up the most miles in 24 hours, three of The Ocean Race teams are now the fastest offshore monohulls in the world, smashing the previous record of a 100ft supermaxi on steroids.
