Stopover Episode 5 - Welcome in Newport © Marin Le Roux / polaRYSE

In this fifth episode, we meet up with the fleet in Newport and it was another tough week! A victory for 11th Hour Racing Team at home after an intense battle on the Atlantic, a logistical marathon and a technical sprint for Team Holcim-PRB, the entry of new sailors into the race, team management at mid-race with Holly Cova...

Just when we thought the Deep South leg would be the toughest, the fourth leg was perhaps just as challenging for the teams in The Ocean Race. In the final minutes of the race, 11th Hour Racing Team took the lead and won the leg in their home port of Newport, a victory the American team had been waiting for for a long time.

At the halfway point of the round the world race in terms of points, we followed Marine Derrien and Holly Cova, respectively team managers of Team Holcim-PRB and Team Malizia, in their busy daily lives. This stopover was once again not easy, but the objective remains the same: to give everything to reach victory. Team Holcim-PRB, which had dismasted a few days after the start in Itajaí, arrived in Newport by cargo ship only four days before the start of Leg 5. A race against the clock coordinated by Marine Derrien and welcomed by all, notably by the director of the competing team. Moments full of emotion filmed by Marin Le Roux of polaRYSE accompanied by the IMOCA.

Eight episodes of STOPOVER

STOPOVER, a series produced by IMOCA in collaboration with Ouest-France and Harken, is divided into eight episodes of fifteen to twenty-five minutes, produced at each stopover, which explores the consequences of the previous leg and anticipate the one to come. Families, replacements, injuries or repairs, the race continues in the hands of the shore team or in the minds of the sailors. We follow characters that we discover and become attached to. We enter the teams' changing rooms on the edge of the craziest of playing fields.
