Report of the 2nd "TIOS- Top Italian Open SKiff" training session in Rimini, in preparation for the World Championship, which has already registered 250 participants.

It has been an intense week for the Open Skiff and RS Aero classes, which over the last two weekends have been busy, first in Rimini with the second training session of the highly specialised "TIOS-Top Italian Open Skiff" group, then in Calasetta for the third RS Aero National Regatta, held over three days of wind and waves. The two classes had in common the choice of venue for the events, the same chosen by their respective classes, for the World Championships next July.

As far as the 2nd TIOS is concerned, after the first event in Ostia, it was important to move to the regatta field of the World Championship (15-20 July), which will be run by Club Nautico Rimini, since the aim of these training sessions with the best ranking athletes of the last season, is to arrive at the World Championship with an adequate technical preparation. "These were three very intense days in Rimini," commented coach and referee Michele Ricci once the training session was over. "The group is focusing on the objective of the project with great interest and a lot of commitment. The days always started early with the technical and theoretical appointments, which proceeded at a fast pace.

We saw good improvements in the water: in three days we were in the water 11 hours with varying wind and wave conditions; on land in the morning at 7.30am muscle activation and in the afternoon stretching sessions. The road just taken by the Open Skiff Class looks good; once again the weather gave us a big hand and the Club Nautico Rimini is an excellent location for training the guys: having an area for the boats, a classroom with a blackboard and TV, assistance vehicles, buoys, and colleagues ready to collaborate make the work truly enjoyable, creating a special atmosphere," concluded Ricci.

On 1 May, after three equally intense days at sea, the third RS Aero national regatta ended, following Ostia and Limone sul Garda. It was an opportunity to test the world championship race course in a Calasetta that offered very interesting wind and wave conditions. General trials for the Lega Navale del Sulcis, committed as the organising FIV club and present, as always, with a competitive team concentrated on both the RS Aero and the Open Skiff.

In the RS Aero 5 and 7 classes, after two days in which they had already proved to dominate the scene, with the last four races on the third and final day, Francesca Ramazzotti (Veliamoci ASD, Oristano) and Filippo Vincis (LNI del Sulcis) were confirmed in first place respectively. The two discards obtained from the 10 total races also delineated the RS Aero 6 ranking more clearly than on the second day, when there were 5 athletes within 6 points: final victory for Davide Mulas with 3 points ahead of Giacomo Gatta (CN Savio), one of the few from the mainland, who in turn trailed Alice Sussarello (LNI Sulcis) by 5 points. The target of the regattas was around half an hour for each race, a little less on the third and final day. Wave protagonists in all the races, with spectacular and entertaining glides! Calasetta did not disappoint and provided three days of great sailing, ready to welcome the large fleet for the RS Aero World Championship from 25 to 30 July.

Now begins the most important part of the racing season for the two classes: Open Skiff in Rimini and Rs Aero in Calasetta, where 250 and 150 athletes have already signed up for the two world championships on the programme!
