Spring inshore fishing is one of the best times to get out and capitalize on a great bite. Water temperatures are rising, barring any major cold fronts, the bite will continue to get better and better as April approaches.

With the bite picking up, using artificials is a great way to cover water and catch fish quickly. Let's take a look at some of the most popular techniques.

Soft baits/plastics

Spring fish dial into crab, shrimp, and baitfish. Depending on species, fish will tend to gravitate towards what is a primary food source.

Spring bait is typically smaller than what you find mid-summer. With that in mind, start on the smaller side with your chosen bait. Start with natural colors and presentations, getting as close as possible to the natural baitfish in the area.

Hard baits

When it comes to spring fishing, hardbaits are a great option. Many different techniques come in to play, whether you are using a jerkbait, topwater, or crankbait, you better come ready to try many different techniques.

Spring is a very fast transitioning season, many different feed windows open in a single day, having as many different rigs set up as possible will lead to the greatest success on the water.

Reels:
When fishing with artificials, the gear ratio is especially imporant to consider. High Speed reels are a better option for topwaters as well as fishing areas with fast current.

Rods:
The PENN Carnage™ III Inshore rods have been built to handle any battle the Inshore has to offer.
