Royal Southern Summer Series - Top-class racing and superb parties

The Royal Southern Yacht Club has an exciting line up of regattas for 2023, once again providing top class racing and superb shoreside entertainment for Club Members and non-Members alike.

The Royal Southern Summer Series provides outstanding racing for keelboats, one designs, sportsboats and dayboats.

Four weekend-regattas will be run in The Solent in May, June, July, and September. The Royal Southern's purpose-built clubhouse on the banks of the River Hamble will host exceptional social events throughout the series. Passionate corinthian sailors, young and old will be taking part, rubbing shoulders with Olympic, America's Cup and round the world sailors.

Well over 100 boats are expected to compete at the Royal Southern Summer Series. Confirmed classes separated into Black, White, Red and Green Groups include IRC Racing, Performance 40, IRC Cruiser, J/111, HP30, Cape 31, J24, J/70, SB20, RS Elite, XOD, and VPRS. Other classes are welcome to join in the action and shoreside fun.

North Sails May Regatta - 7-8 May

Held Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday to avoid clashing with King Charles III's coronation. Three race groups will be set with suitable courses for IRC, J/111, HP30, J/70, SB20, and Cape 31. North Sails experts will not only be racing but also out on the water observing and recording the action for an after-racing debrief, including drone footage. Prizes for the North Sails May Regatta will include merchandise from North Sails.

Champagne Charlie June Regatta - 3-4 June

Three race areas will be set with suitable courses for IRC, J/111, HP30, J/70, SB20, J/24, XOD, VPRS, and IRC Cruiser. Charles Heidsieck Champagne will be providing the prizes. What better way to finish a sparkling day on the water than dressing up for the Champagne Ball on Saturday evening, held at the Royal Southern Yacht Club.

Salcombe Gin July Regatta - 8-9 July

Two race areas will be set with suitable courses for IRC, J/111, HP30, J/70, and SB20. Salcombe Gin will be providing the prizes. The expansive Den's Deck at the Royal Southern Yacht Club will be transformed into The Salcombe Gin Cocktail Bar with tutored tasting at the water's edge.

September Regatta - 15-17 September

The Grand Finale of the Royal Southern Summer Series will feature three race areas. The Cape 31 Class will have an extra helping of thrilling racing from Friday to Sunday. Black and White Groups will race Saturday to Sunday. Suitable courses will be set for IRC, J/111, HP30, J/70, SB20, RS Elite and Cape 31. After racing the Class and Overall winner of the Royal Southern Summer Series will be decided.

On-line entry is now open for the Royal Southern Summer Series with the Early Entry Deadline on 23rd April. The Royal Southern Summer Series offers exceptional value; an individual regatta entry starts from just £120 and the whole series from £360. More social events and wonderful prizes are planned for the Royal Southern Summer Series.
