To make up for the lost races two weekends ago, the last race day consisted of three back-to-back races. We were very fortunate that the conditions were ideal with around 15-19 knots forecast and weather far enough above freezing for the helms to stay warm (unfortunately the crews were not so lucky).

The first race began with a terrible start for many, with three boats being over and two collisions, but after the first lap those who had had to go back had caught up a great deal.

The race was shortened to two laps as the race committee was eager to get the second race under way. First place was taken by Gwen Thorogood and Primrose Denny-Pickess (an amazing bounce back from having to go back on the line).

Race two was much the same, being shortened at two laps, although most of the fleet had a better start with Hettie Thorogood and Nicole pulling a port hand flyer, the race was won by Evan and James.

A few boats decided to retire after the second race with cold and tired crews to get a head start in the de-rigging process for the training weekend at Grafham Water next weekend. The last race ended up being only one lap due to lack of time and general chill, it was won by Rhona Enkel and Sophie Ringland.

As this was our last weekend at Alton Water, a Cadet prize-giving took place, with everyone receiving some sort of prize. Well done to Rhona and Sophie for holding onto their lead throughout the series.

I speak on behalf of all the sailors who raced in the Frostbite, when I say it has been a very enjoyable, although cold, series and we are looking forward to returning next year. Thanks to Fox's for their sponsorship and prizes.
