There were 77 different classes of boat in this season’s Seldén SailJuice Winter Series, and we’ll be celebrating that diversity at the Dinghy Show...

The RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show takes place this weekend in Farnborough in the south of England. There’s no show quite like it, because no other country in the world has such a diverse small boat racing scene.

The prizegiving for the 14th edition of the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series opens the Show, with kick-off at 1015am on the Main Stage. Just like the Dinghy Show itself, the Seldén SailJuice Winter Series represents and celebrates the full diversity of the dinghy racing scene, with 77 different classes represented across the nine winter handicap racing events. There are even a few sportsboats and multihulls that compete in the Series, because the aim is to be as open and inclusive as possible.

Co-organisers of the Series, Simon Lovesey and Andy Rice, have been working for many years with some of the most committed and passionate enthusiasts for promoting small-boat racing. From title sponsor Seldén Mast to other commercial partners like Craftinsure, the most prolific dinghy photographer in the UK, Tim Olin, the Great Lakes Handicap Group who have developed the most battle-proven set of fair PY handicap numbers, to the staff and members of the nine sailing clubs, the racing scene in the UK thrives only because of the combined effort of everyone involved.

With Andy Rice away in Cape Town reporting at The Ocean Race, recently crowned ILCA Masters World Champion Jon Emmett joins Simon Lovesey on stage for the prizegiving, with Seldén UK’s managing director (and Series competitor) Steve Norbury standing by to hand over the many prizes.

There’s no other show quite like the Dinghy Show for sharing ideas and thoughts for future seasons. We’ve got more ideas for winter racing, and summer competition too, and Simon Lovesey will be available immediately after the end of the prizegiving to discuss ideas that could work for promoting and growing your class.
