Europe class 2023 European Championship at Real Club Nautico Torrevieja - Day 1

by Prensa Sailing Comunicación 17 Feb 2023 19:03 AEDT 16-19 February 2023

The first day of four closes with two races completed, thanks to good wind conditions that have been between 9 and 11 knots from the Northeast.

As expected, certain names were ahead of the 38-boat fleet. The Swede Jonathan Llado Krensler has demonstrated his abilities and has to be one of the clear favorites for the title, especially in the first race in which his victory was unstoppable.

Only the Catalan Daniel Cabré (CN Masnou) was the only one who pushed the pack with the aim of being close to Llado. At the finish line he was second, followed by the locals Ascensión Roca and Alberto Antón, both from the RCN Torrevieja, while Klaus Rønn Madsen (Denmark) was fifth.

In the second race there were many changes, both at the top and in the middle of the fleet. Llado did not manage any higher than third place, while a brief triumph was awarded to Rafael Ramón-Borja (RCR Alicante). Cabré repeated second place. The fourth and fifth places went to Pere Rentería (CN Masnou) and Alberto Antón (RCN Torrevieja).

Overall, Llado is first, although sharing that position with Cabré. The better scorecard of the Swedish sailor is 1-3, for 2-2 of the Catalan, but a discard at the end of 4 races can change all that.

In fifth place is placed Ascensión Roca, first female, with 10 points after a brilliant third place in the first race of the day and a discreet seventh in the second.
