The Italian RS Aero class is ready with the 2023 racing season: 5 national regattas, the World and European Youth Team Race in Sardinia, as well as the Italian Youth Class Championship and the International Regatta in Maccagno, will give life to an interesting and varied sports programme.
The start at the Tognazzi Marine Village (Rome), with the first FIV national regatta from 3 to 5 March.
The RS Aero, a single-handed dinghy for juniors and seniors, which is increasingly finding favour with enthusiasts and is one of those fun classes, in which the sporting and competitive part is important, but which allows those who do not sail full-time to race, while having fun, is on the starting blocks more charged than ever.
The Italian RS Aero Association, in collaboration with the Italian Sailing Federation and the International Class, has fine-tuned the 2023 sports programme with Italy as the protagonist: the highlight will in fact be the world championship scheduled to take place in Calasetta (Sant'Antioco Island, southern Sardinia) and organised by the Lega Navale Sulcis: a location that from 26 to 30 July will certainly attract many foreigners for an event that promises to be spectacular. But international events will also involve Lake Maggiore with the Maccagno International Regatta (Unione Velica Maccagno, 19-21 May) and Sardinia once again, with the European Team Race Championship (Cagliari, 27-29 October).
The RS Aero fleet will make its debut on the first weekend of March (3-5) in Ostia, hosted by the Tognazzi Marina Village - the organising club chaired by Class President Guido Sirolli - with the first FIV national regatta reserved to the youth and adult categories. The calendar will continue with the second national scheduled in Limone sul Garda, at Easter, from 7 to 9 April (Limone Garda Sailing) and the third, in Cagliari, from 29 April to 1 May (CCanottieri Ichnusa). Fourth and fifth national respectively in Calasetta (LNI Sulcis) from 7 to 9 July and in Cagliari, from 13 to 15 October. In IV Zone Lazio, at the Tognazzi Marine Village, the Italian Youth Class Championship, from 8 to 10 September.
There are four categories divided according to sail size with under 17 (Aero 5), under 19 (Aero 6), under 22 (Aero 7) and adult/senior with Aero 5, 6, 7 or 9 sails for international regattas only.
Next 28 February is the deadline to register for the world championship, with a subsidised registration fee.
