Week five of the Alton Water Frostbite Series started with medium winds and an amazing turnout of ten cadets. This was perfect conditions for some great racing.

We had three separate starts, the Cadets starting last. Watching the other starts, the line bias switched ends two times before our start! As the Cadets went into sequence, the left hand side of the beat seemed to be paying, as watching the other classes. First start got away cleanly and the racing had started. The majority of the fleet went to the left hand side of the best while some of the boats tacked out to the right to get into clean air. After two laps of close racing, the results were Rhona Enkel and Sophie Ringland in first, Evan Harris and James Velecott in second and third place were Gwen Thorogood and Primose.

Race 2, everyone was keen on this start with 3 boats over the line. The left hand side of the beat was still paying, so again the fleet headed out to the left. There was close racing in this race with a very crowded first windward mark. After managing to get a clean lane out of the first mark for the downwind leg, two laps of close racing throughout the fleet was to follow. Rhona Enkel and Sophie Ringland managed to take the second race win, giving them two bullets for the day, in second place were George Cox-Olliff and George Letts and in third place were Hettie Thorogood and

It was great and competitive racing, with a well laid course. Thank you to the race officer and his team for another fantastic day of racing.

Well done to Rhona and Sophie for holding their lead throughout the series To make up for the lost races the last race day consisted of three back-to-back races.
