On April 22 and 23, 2023, the Marion Bermuda Race and Cruising Club of America are partnering in a Hands-On Safety at Sea training course leading to a US Sailing International Offshore Safety at Sea Certificate.

The Marion Bermuda Race requires at least 30% of the crew must have a valid certificate in order to qualify for the race. The Marion Bermuda Race has extended the typical five-year expiration date to six years for the 2023 race. If you currently have a certificate dated 2017 or after, you need not renew it. If your certificate is pre-2017 you have to renew by taking the US Sailing Update SAS modules 11-15 and a one-day Hands-On course. Even if you have a valid certificate, the Hands-On one-day seminar is an excellent course to take as a refresher for you and your crew.

Registration for the April 22 and 23 dates is specifically being reserved for Marion Bermuda Race participants until March 15, 2023, after which it will open up to anyone interested in taking the course. It is the last scheduled SAS course before the race, and spots are limited to 50 per day, so don't wait to register yourself and your crew. Roger Williams University
1 Old Ferry Road
Bristol, RI 02809

NOTE: Be sure to read the course description and required equipment list carefully here: Course Details
