Winch designed Jeanneau 55 launches at boot Düsseldorf

by Winch Design 30 Jan 2023 22:52 PST

Winch Design were delighted to announce the premiere of the Jeanneau 55 sailing yacht at the 2023 Düsseldorf Boat Show.

In the history of sailing yachts, few collaborations have been as successful or as longstanding as our ongoing partnership with Jeanneau and Philippe Briand. Over the past 30 years we have helped produce and sold over 200 sailing yachts worldwide, and with the current sailing resurgence, this number is set to grow.

With a Winch-designed interior and Philippe Briand architecture, the Jeanneau Yacht 55 (replacing both the JY 51 and JY 54) is elegant, high performing and comfortable. Practical for cruising in all seasons and locations, there is no limit to exploration.

She has been designed like a floating private apartment, with a forward-thinking layout comprising a large owner's suite that occupies two-thirds of the interior. The main companionway provides private access to the owner's suite, opening onto the forward cabin. Two additional cabins with private bathrooms enable guests to enjoy independent living spaces, accessible from the cockpit by two separate companionways.

The interior design, in line with the rest of the Jeanneau Yacht range, exudes an understated elegance, peppered with intricate detailing and graphic texture which results in a timeless, functional design. Bright spaces flow seamlessly and interconnect all the different spaces into one "owners penthouse".

On deck, a dual-cockpit layout separated by the steering and sail control pods, offers space to relax in two aft lounging areas that convert to sun pads, directly connected to the hydraulic platform and beach club activities. Forward of the twin helms, the layout features an exterior chart table with a GPS screen and autopilot controls to port and a breakfast/dining table and ample seating to starboard. A hard top and a wide wrap round windscreen provide shelter, remarkable visibility and the ability to cruise in all seasons.

The new Jeanneau 55 offers an extensive multifunctional package that amplifies the yachting experience, on a platform that adapts to the owner's needs depending on the activity, season or even the time of the day.

Summary of the Jeanneau 55:

  • Large owner's suite that occupies two thirds of the interior, three times the size of any master suite on a 55ft yacht
  • Full beam, dual cockpit area with dining for 12 and three companionways (two allowing private access to guest cabins)
  • Inside/outside lifestyle maximised by the wide wrap around windscreen and arch to protect from all-weather elements
  • Large retractable, hydraulic swim platform that extends the living space onboard
