XV Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja - Day 1

by Prensa Sailing Comunicación 26 Jan 11:01 PST 26-29 January 2023

The first day closes with only one race completed in all groups. Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia), Emmanouil Anastasios Vomvylas (Greece), Natasza Micewicz (Poland) and Sviatoslav Madonich (Ukraine), first leaders. The Race Committee brings forward 30 minutes the starting top to the first race of the day for the second day, with the aim of closing three races and thus the qualifying round.

The XV Trofeo Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja closes its first day and does so with the wind as protagonist. Although it started with 10-12 knots of 290º (W-West), the first race for the yellow group could not be launched until 11.05 am, 1 hour late on the scheduled time, although with good conditions; from there the red and blue and white took the start.

The yellow group completed the first race, with a wind that began to show its worst side. The next three groups were able to complete their race, thus closing a test for all groups, the most positive of the day with the big favorites who knew how to find their place on the race course.

In this sense, Blanca Ferrando (RCN Valencia - ESP) is placed leader, after a brilliant race in the Red group. A comfortable and smooth victory for the Valencian. The Greek Emmanouil Anastasios Vomvylas (Greece) and the Ukrainian Sviatoslav Madonich (Ukraine) have also been solid and strong in their White group. Somewhat more laborious has been the triumph for the Polish Natasza Micewicz (Poland).

After several attempts and after almost two hours on the race course, early in the afternoon the Race Committee decided to send the fleet ashore and the organization in view of the weather forecast for Friday, where medium winds are expected early in the day, has announced the advance of the day 30 minutes, ie if wind conditions permit the first starts will be at 9.30 am.

On the social, tomorrow and from 19.00 hours is scheduled the Welcome Party. A great welcome party and presentation to all teams taking part in the regatta Euromarina Optimist Torrevieja.
