The popular Alton Water Frostbite Series continued on the weekend with very different conditions from the previous weekend and a good number of the local Waldringfield continued to attend to hone their skills for the coming season.

Sunday the 22nd, the third Sunday of the Alton water frostbite series started with light and shifty winds causing great difficulty to the race committee and a slightly delayed start.

The race eventually began with the cadets getting their own sequence giving them the benefit of watching the faster fleet up the beat. Alex Enkel & Jude Baldock took an early lead rounding the windward first and after two laps the cadets were left with a difficult final beat.

George Cox-Oliff & George Letts took first place followed by Daniel Ringland & Joshua Dye both Tom Krailing & Ella Edwards and Alex Enkel & Josh Baldock crossed the finish line at an equal time giving them each three and a half points. James Bailey & Eliza Card came fifth and Rhona Enkel & Sophie Ringland in sixth.

The second race allowed for more moderate wind conditions and the same two lap triangle course. Alex & Jude again rounded the windward in first but at the end of the race it was Rhona & Sophie in first followed by Alex & Jude in second, George & George in third, Daniel & Joshua in fourth, Tom & Ella in fifth and James with Eliza in sixth.

Well done to everyone with no capsizes and thank you to the RO for some fabulous racing.

This coming weekend continues the action-packed winter of Cadet sailing with training on Saturday run by class legends Harry Chatterton and Alex Page and the hotly contested Frostbite Series continues Sunday. Thanks to Tim Bees for the great photos again.
