Having won two awards, the new Tiwal 3R will be on show at boot 2023

by Tiwal 12 Jan 2023 02:34 PST

The new Tiwal 3R, recently named Boat of the Year and Best Boat by U.S. sailing magazines Sailing World and Sail, will be on display Boot Düsseldorf from January 21 to 29, 2023.

With sales of its inflatable sailing dinghies now totalling 2,500 worldwide, Tiwal will be presenting its new sports dinghy. And it still fits in the back of your car!

The Tiwal 3R is being presented at Boot Düsseldorf from January 21st to 29th, on stand 15G41. Awarded Boat of the Year and Best Boat by Sailing World and Sail, this new sport version completes the range of inflatable sailing dinghies - the Tiwal 3, Tiwal 2 and Tiwal 2L - from the French shipyard. The Tiwal 3R offers a compact alternative to traditional sports dinghies, having increased rigidity both on the hull, and the mast and appendages. But it also benefits from an increase in power with a new mainsail in laminated sailcloth, and is equipped with a boom.

With the launch of the Tiwal 3 ten years ago, Tiwal has helped broaden the practice of sailing. The company has opened up access to a wider public by offering a boomless dinghy that is compact, versatile and highly responsive in a variety of wind conditions. Suitable for both adults and children, more than 2,500 Tiwal dinghies are now sailing in some fifty countries on all types of waters.

With the launch today of the Tiwal 3R (Racing), Tiwal is this time targeting a public of sailors looking for performance, technicality, but also compactness. "The sporting public wanted a nomadic boat with even better performance. Offering the possibility of sailing everywhere, simply and with maximum fun, is in Tiwal's DNA," explains Marion Excoffon, Designer and Co-founder of Tiwal.

A sport dinghy for an enlightened audience

A rigid and compact boat
The seakeeping performance of the Tiwal 3 is widely recognized. "For the Tiwal 3R, we've brought even more rigidity to the whole boat," adds Marion Excoffon. The hull benefits from a new technology - "fusion" - as well as a better flow of water at the back of the hull. The mast is made of 90% carbon and the appendages are made in composite.

The result is striking, with a behavior similar to that of a rigid boat, while keeping its compact functionality for being transported.

A powerful and fun boat
The 7.2m2 "light wind" rig guarantees superb sensations in light airs (6 to 12 knots), as does the 6m" sport sail for stronger winds. Even the larger-size helmsman will be hiking-out in light airs for a great feeling of speed. The oriented sail cut, the new carbon boom and fine-tuning allow sail power to be optimized according to wind conditions, sea state and your weight. All sail controls return to the helmsman on each side of the boat and offer great finesse for trimming.

Combined with the new generation hull, that is even stiffer, this rig makes it easier to get up on the plane. The Tiwal 3R is even more lively and responsive, even in light airs. You can play with the wind and have fun in the surf. And when the breeze picks up a bit more, it becomes very sporty! Close your eyes and you'd think it was a rigid-hull dinghy. Open them, and it stows away in 2 bags!"
