Preparations in full swing ahead of inaugural Singapore Sail Grand Prix on January 14-15

by Sabrina Su 9 Jan 2023 02:58 PST 14-15 January 2023

The countdown to the most exciting racing on water has kicked into high gear, with the SailGP team technical bases set up in anticipation of the first ever Singapore Sail Grand Prix this weekend.

The high speed, adrenaline-pumping races will take place at Parkland Green at East Coast Park on January 14-15. Nine international teams will battle it out on identical high tech, hydrofoiling F50 catamarans at highway speeds of up to 100km/h.

The SailGP team technical bases will be housed at the Changi Exhibition Centre, where SailGP athletes and shore teams prepare the high-tech F50 race boats for battle at East Coast Park. Lucky ticket holders of the sold-out Tech Base Tours will enjoy a rare peek into what happens behind the scenes of a SailGP race, and get to catch the elite athletes of SailGP and their cutting-edge, wing-sailed boats up close.

Spectators can opt to purchase tickets for the SailGP Beach Club. Located on the beach at Parkland Green, East Coast Park, ticket holders can enjoy a completely new vibe to watch the battles on the water play out in front of them. With an unobstructed view, gazebo shading, dedicated screens, an all-inclusive food and drinks package, it is the ultimate place to experience the fast-paced action.

Singapore is the eighth leg of SailGP's eleven-stop global championship. The nine teams competing in Singapore are Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. The racing fleet boasts some of the sport's most decorated athletes, with the likes of Olympic champions Sir Ben Ainslie (Great Britain), Tom Slingsby (Australia), and Peter Burling (New Zealand) set to race at East Coast Park this weekend.

Limited tickets are still available for the race weekend and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.sg
