How to follow The Ocean Race 2022-23

No other sporting event gets its fans as close to the action as The Ocean Race and there are multiple ways you can follow the competition throughout the six month event.

The action begins on January 8 with the In Port Race in Alicante before the IMOCA and VO65 fleets depart for Mindelo, Cabo Verde on January 15 on the first leg of the race.

Two classes

The competition is split into two classes: the 5-strong IMOCA fleet will race around the world competing for The Ocean Race Trophy; while the six VO65s will race in Legs 1, 6 and 7, making up the three stages of the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race VO65 Sprint Cup.

In Port races

In addition to the ocean passage legs the teams will also compete in an in-port race series with inshore heats taking place at each stopover.

At 1200 UTC every day during the offshore legs, come to theoceanrace.com and tune in to The Race Report - a two-minute quick fix that tells the story of the previous 24 hours in the Race. Watch here on our site and on our YouTube and Facebook channels.

During the offshore legs, our host and commentator Niall Myant-Best will host The Ocean Race Show, a longer format programme that takes a deeper dive into the stories at sea. This too will be available on the race website and our YouTube and Facebook channels.

Short highlights from Leg starts, Arrivals, and In Port races will be posted on The Ocean Race social platforms and website, as well as Eurosport social channels as soon as they are turned around.
