Long Beach Yacht Club is pleased to announce they are now accepting requests for invitation to the Long Beach stop of the California Dreamin' Series, scheduled for April 1 and 2, 2023. The longstanding match racing series features three events at three prominent clubs on the west coast, beginning with San Diego Yacht Club in their fleet of J22s on January 28-29. Competitors then head north to St. Francis Yacht Club on March 4-5 for more J22 competition on San Francisco Bay. The final regatta is held in the ocean off Long Beach, in LBYC's fleet of Catalina 37s. Purpose-built for match racing, the "37s" require six to seven crew members to sail and have become well-known around the world thanks to international exposure from the Congressional Cup.

The California Dreamin' Series is traditionally LBYC's first match racing regatta of the year and serves an important role in the club's annual progression of events. "The CDS makes a great warmup each year as we head into Ficker Cup and Congressional Cup two weeks later," said Steve Meyer, Chairman for the CDS Long Beach stop. "As a Grade 3, it draws some very talented sailors and gives our staff, volunteers, and race committee the critical reps that are needed before running a World Championship."

As an added bonus, the winner of the California Dreamin' Series receives a coveted invitation to the Ficker Cup the following year, which lends their team a chance to qualify for the Congressional Cup. Interested skippers are encouraged to visit the regatta homepage where they can submit an RFI to the series. Priority will be given to skippers opting into all three events, but there are often spots available to those who can only make one or two.
