The International WASZP Class and French WASZP Class invite sailors from all nations to join them in Quiberon, France for the 2023 WASZP European Games! 'Enter now, pay later' is now open - head to racehub.waszp.com to sign up!

Quiberon is a sensational venue for foiling so when the WASZP European Games arrives from 16-22 July, the sailors will not be disappointed! The huge bay is sheltered from the Atlantic swells by a low, narrow peninsula, which provides perfect flat water and uninterrupted winds. The prevailing gradient and thermal winds both flow over the causeway and fill the bay, creating dreamy flying conditions. Racing is guaranteed to be exceptional and with the class growing faster than ever, we can expect over 150 boats to take part!

The French WASZP academy has been using Quiberon as a training venue for some time. The French SailGP team also use Quiberon as a training ground for its athletes when they are not travelling with the league and the list of professional teams from other foiling classes that sail on the bay is long and decorated.

It's not just the sailing that is special in Quiberon. On the Atlantic side of the peninsula you will find miles and miles of golden surf beaches equipped with breath-taking sunsets, whilst on the Eastern side you will find numerous sheltered inlets for sunbathing and tranquil swimming. Just down the road is the holiday town of Quiberon, with a great choice of bars and restaurants. Accommodation can be found in the campsites (within walking distance) and the ample choice of holiday homes. Thinking of bringing the family? This is the perfect place.

WASZP_X

The WASZP_X class will be properly incorporated into the European Games in 2023. The fleet is building across Europe so sailors can look forward to quality fleet racing in the smaller rigs! Want to learn more about the WASZP class for junior sailors and lighter adults? Head to www.waszp.com to see the rig choices or speak to your local WASZP Agent.

Green Fleet

Don't feel ready to race at a European Games? The WASZP Class is the most inclusive class out there and strongly encourages sailors of every level to join the swarm and race at international events. There is no qualification process and no minimum level. However, if you don't quite feel ready to line up on a championship start line, you can join the Green Fleet. The Green Fleet is a beginner's fleet that races on a separate, smaller course with on-water coaching from a trusted WASZP coach. You still get to experience the buzz of a WASZP event but without the pressure of the big fleet. If you change your mind halfway through the week and decide to join the main fleet, or if you decide to move from the main fleet to Green Fleet - no problem! Whatever works for you to get the best from the experience. The entry process is the same, so you can enter now and make the final fleet choice closer to the time. Whichever fleet you join, you are guaranteed to improve your WASZP sailing in Quiberon!

Warm up event

The French WASZP Class is hosting a warm-up event at Yacht Club de Carnac from 9-13 July. This is just across the bay from Quiberon, so offers the perfect chance to test the waters of the European Games. Find the event on RaceHub and sign up!

2023 is now looking like a bumper year with a record-breaking European Games on the cards before the fleet heads down under to the exquisite venue of Sorrento, Australia for the International WASZP Games in the winter. There will be more WASZP activity happening in Europe than ever before so grab your boat, chuck your wetsuit on and get on it. It's going to be epic.

2023 EuroCup Calendar Complete

To add to the excitement of the 2023 European Games, the 2023 EuroCup calendar is now complete, with the final venue announced as Medemblik, Netherlands.

Medemblik, a world-class foiling venue and proven venue for major international regattas, will host the first international WASZP event in the country's history. The newly formed Dutch WASZP Class Association is building momentum for the class off the back of Dutchsail's successful youth foiling program and the selection of talented Dutch athletes racing on the SailGP Inpire program, including WASZP veteran Eliott Savelon, who raced in the Grand Final in San Francisco earlier this year.

Medemblik confirms the full line up of EuroCup events as follows:

  • MFI EuroCup Imperia (Imperia, Italy: 31/03 - 02/04)

  • EuroCup Netherlands (Medemblik, Netherlands: 12/05 - 14/05)

  • EuroCup Kieler Woche (Kiel, Germany: 17/06 - 20/06)

  • EuroCup Norway (Sandefjord, Norway: 11/08 - 13/08)

  • EuroCup Spain (Roses, Spain: 08/09 - 10/09)
Head to the RaceHub for entry and further event information.
