The Municipality of Portofino and Yacht Club Italiano will open the 2023 Sailing Season in May with the "Regate di Primavera", for which great novelties are anticipated.

The event will be an "invitational" for yachts over 50', as successfully launched in 2021. Yachts from well-known manufacturers Grand Soleil Yachts, ICE Yachts, Mylius Yachts and Solaris Yachts will be racing.

"Once more the Regate di Primavera innovates, thanks to the enthusiastic support of certain boat manufacturers, global leaders in the Performance/Cruiser sector, which will represent "Made in Italy" at its best. Outstanding boats from Grand Soleil, ICE, Mylius, and Solaris will sail the "Regate", open this year to yachts over 50'. We are confident racing in Portofino will again prove as thrilling as it was during the past two, unusually breezy, editions". This was the enthusiastic opening remark by Gerolamo Bianchi, President of Yacht Club Italiano.

The Regate di Primavera will officially begin on Thursday 4th May with entry registrations. The boats will stay at the Marina di Portofino, with the Port of Santa Margherita Ligure being available as an overflow mooring area. Racing is scheduled over three days from Friday 5th May, with the prize-giving ceremony due on Sunday 7th May in the afternoon after the last race.

Once again the strong relationship between Sailing and the Bay of Tigullio is honoured: Yacht Club Italiano has been running racing events there since the end of the 19th century and has had its summer clubhouse in Portofino since 1965.

"Regate di Primavera" is organized by Yacht Club Italiano and the Municipality of Portofino with the collaboration of Marina di Portofino, the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure, the Italian Sailing Federation, and the main partner Belmond, owner of the Splendido and the Splendido Mare, among the best hotels in Portofino. Last but not least, Banca Passadore, YCI's institutional sponsor, ever present in major regional events.
