The Australian Wooden Boat Festival is Tasmania's largest free event, a community event created in 1994. Over the years the event has grown substantially and now welcomes punters from around the world to the four-day Festival. With over 300 boats afloat and 150 ashore, model boats, a symposium, marketplace, children's village and a site spanning from Hunter Street to Salamanca, extra hands are required.

In 2019 the Festival ran smoothly, thanks to over 400+ enthusiastic volunteers. Heading into Summer 2022 AWBF Organisers have only 200 volunteers registered. Tasks on offer include berthing boats, photographers, call centre helpers, info tent experts, social media gurus, crowd counters and more. There's something to float everyone's boat. No experience is required for most roles, and it is a great opportunity to be involved in the biggest boat festival in the Southern Hemisphere.

AWBF General Manager, Paul Stephanus said "It was great to see our loyal stalwart volunteers register, as well as Hutchins School students, Rotary Club members and even fresh faces from the big isle. But we need more!"

Volunteers attend one induction session and will receive a full festival uniform, recognition on the AWBF website and an invite to the exclusive AWBF after party.

To find out more and register see the AWBF website, australianwoodenboatfestival.com.au/volunteer.
