There were big moves and shock losses on Day 2 of the Bollé International Youth Match Racing Regatta as the home teams took charge. All teams were fighting for the top five places which would secure them a berth in the quarter finals and skip the repechage restart round tomorrow.

Not only were the teams battling for direct entry to the quarter finals, but also one of the most sought-after prizes of the week, as the Qualifying Kings secured a race onboard the VPLP 100, andoo Comanche Team X Ocean Racing. An opportunity only made possible by owner John Winning Jr and a rare experience for these youth sailors.

"We had a great day on the water, not only winning all our races but going for an awesome sail on andoo Comanche. The whole team loved the experience interacting with the Comanche crew which included so many YSA graduates." Commented Finn Tapper following the CYCA's Income Asset Management Twilight Race.

Near perfect Sydney conditions greeted the fleet for the day with sunshine, warm temperatures but with a tricky westerly ranging between 7-18 knots, providing the ideal tactical racetrack in Rushcutters Bay for match racing.

Cole Tapper from the CYCA Youth Sailing Academy stormed ahead to go undefeated on the day to clinch the top spot. Closely trailing Cole was their fellow CYCA team led by Will Sargent.

Last week's Harken Champion Ethan Prieto-Low from WA, has some work to do, having to advance to the quarter finals through the repechage.

Fellow WA team led by Marcello Torre finished in third after the round robin, gaining a quarter final spot. Along with his WA team and the two CYCA teams, Josh Hyde from New Zealand and Max Brennan from the USA have automatically qualified through to the quarter finals.

Tomorrow the repechage round will be completed as the six remaining teams battle for the remaining three spots in the quarter finals. Racing will begin at 1200hrs on Thursday 24 November 2022 with live results at www.cyca.com.au/live-results.
