Sustainable technologies and performance will be the protagonists of the Ecoracer Sailing Series, the first sustainable grand prix circuit in the world - thanks to a fleet of One Design boats built with Northern Light Composites (nlcomp®) recyclable rComposite® technology.

The Italian start-up announced this important novelty for next season in Malta, as part of the prestigious Yacht Racing Forum.

The project is born with the aim of launching a new series of events based on sustainability not only on land, with a village dedicated to sustainable technologies, but above all at sea thanks to the first fleet of recyclable boats in terms of construction technology and materials.

After showing the value of rComposite® technology on the Ecoracer25 prototype, launched in 2021 and winner of the 2022 Italian Minialtura Championship, as well as a protagonist in many other events in Europe, nlcomp® is working with Matteo Polli to finalize the design of a 9,15-meter hull optimized for monotype grand prix racing and easy to manage in rigging and logistics operations.

The new boat project will start from the designer's experience on the Corsa915, a boat that in recent years has won the European Sportboat Championship twice and the Italian Offshore Sailing Championship once, which the new One design will be an evolution of. The boat will be designed for one-design but also ready to be used in offshore sailing, thus suitable to be used on multiple events throughout the sailing season.

The Ecoracer One Design prototype will be launched in the summer of 2023 and will be available to owners and teams interested in a series of ad hoc events that will be organized during the summer in Italy and abroad, while the Ecoracer Sailing Series will start in 2024.

The renderings of Ecoracer One Design and the details of the Ecoracer Sailing Series project will be unveiled in an event reserved for owners and sailors to be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Sergio Caramel, nlcomp® Public Relations Officer said, "We are really excited to launch a real sustainable one design circuit and to have put together a really important working group whose names we will be revealing soon. The goal is to create a high-level sporting and technological circuit in terms of sustainability, as well as a rewarding experience for the owners who will participate. At the moment, the regatta scene lacks a nine-meter one design suitable for the European market and for this reason we decided to start from here. We are working to establish partnership arrangements both in terms of equipment supplies and organizational aspects."
