It has been a very competitive season for the huge fleet of sixty-seven participants throughout the six-month-long series.

The eight regattas for the J/80 Sailing Series 2022 circuit included: Andalusian Championship, Cantabria Championship, PalmaVela, Euskadi Championship, Príncipe de Asturias (Baiona), the Championship, and the Spanish Cup -these last two with double points - and that served to give access to the Grand Final in Getxo.

Winning the overall series was Ignacio Camino's SOLINTAL from RCM Santander with a high points score of 157.75 pts. Second was Jose Azquetas' BIOBIZZ from the host club RCM del Abra with 150 pts. Then, rounding out the podium with the bronze medal was Peru Mugica's ETNIA BARCELONA from RCM Santander with 119.5 pts.

The first mixed team was DORSIA COVIRAN owned by Nuria Sánchez (Marina Burriananova) and the first junior team was FHIMASA EVJL UGARTE (RCM Abra/RS Club) owned by Tomás Trueba.

Rounding out the top five overall were Juan Ameneiro's ALBOROTO (MRCY Baiona) in fourth place and Jaime Piris' MERCURY (RCM Santander) in the fifth position.

Spectacular duel in the Grand Final

World champion Ignacio Camino's SOLINTA came to Getxo as the leader and great favorite. After the first day of racing, he managed to maintain that privileged position. However, on the second day, ETNIA BARCELONA Barcelona was able to turn it around, to end up winning the Grand Final with just 11 pts. Azqueta's BIOBIZZ leaped up the standing after the first day to end up tied on points with SOLINTAl at 13 pts each. BIOBIZZ won the countback to take the silver while Camino's SOLINTAL got the bronze. As a result, Camino's team took the overall Spanish J/80 Super Series crown.
