We are delighted to announce that The City of Gold Coast have now included The Summer of Sailing Series Australia as a part of their City-wide Partnership Program. This recognises Sailing on the Gold Coast as a major sporting activity and reiterates sailings' importance for the city and its community.

"It's a perfect fit when you consider our city's love affair with the water,'' said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate. "Promoting a healthy lifestyle, sport and community spirit is in our DNA. I look forward to the summer series being contested offshore between Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Byron Bay, over six exciting events.''

"Sailing ticks all the boxes from a health and well-being perspective and the Gold Coast is the perfect backdrop for the sport. Sailing promotes teamwork and sportsmanship as well as water safety, getting outdoors and making new friends. Southport Yacht Club have been delivering sailing events for our community and beyond for over 76 years and we are passionate about helping others discover our wonderful sport and the many benefits it brings" said Southport Yacht Club's Vice Commodore of Sail Glenn Burrell.

The Summer of Sailing Series Australia will be held over 3 months from November 2022 through to January 2023 and will incorporates Six (6) major sailing events, all hosted off the crystal-clear waters and coastlines of Brisbane, The Gold Coast and Byron Bay. All 6 events are either held on the Gold Coast or start or finish here. Skippers, crew, family, and friends, as well as locals and visitors are welcomed by the hospitality and ambience of the stunning Southport Yacht Club, located at beautiful Main Beach.

"With easy viewing from the Gold Coast beaches and shorelines, the local community and visitors to the city will have free access to the sailing spectacular during this time and are all welcome to join in the social activities and stunning waterfront dining at Southport Yacht Clubs Main Beach Clubhouse" said Southport Yacht Clubs General Manager Brett James.
