The countdown is now on and bookings are open for the 2022 RYA Affiliated Clubs Conferences, with a busy schedule of free events taking place across the UK this winter.

Building on the success of last week's streamed RYA Live Club Show, hosted by Olympian and broadcaster Shirley Robertson, these in-person regional events are a great opportunity for clubs to meet and reconnect over the winter.

The conferences are ideal for anyone involved in managing a club or its activities, from flag officers and committee members to staff and volunteers.

A club delegate at the RYA Live Club Show commented: "The 30-minute live club show was well worth a watch and a great 'taster event' for this year's regional conferences.

"We're now looking forward to meeting up with other clubs and finding out what advice is available to help with tackling current issues such as the cost of living."

What's in store?

The RYA believes these events are so important that tickets are free for delegates from RYA Affiliated Clubs.

Gareth Brookes, RYA Regional Development Officer Manager, explains: "The RYA Region and Home Country events provide an opportunity for clubs and their representatives to meet up in person at venues where they will be able to take part in workshops and tap into local RYA expertise.

"We'd urge anyone involved in the running of a club or its activities to join us at their local conference to hear the headlines from the region and catch-up on all the latest development opportunities."

The programme of club development sessions, led by RYA and industry experts, will explore the following areas:

  • What are the needs and motivations of your club members and how can you provide an experience that's right for them?
  • How can you make your club welcoming to a wider range of members?
  • What can you do to make your volunteers experience meaningful?
  • How can the RYA's new Club Management Compliance Toolkit help you manage your club?
  • How can you increase yacht racing participation at your club?
  • How to secure the funding you need for your club

The conferences will be delivered from 10am to 3pm (unless specified otherwise) with additional networking opportunities before and after the start and finish times.

See what events, shows and conferences are coming up and how you can take part on the RYA Events hub.
