Registration is now open for the third edition of the Caribbean Foiling Championships. The new dates have been set at December 09-11, 2022. St Martin will once again open its doors for foiling athletes all across the world. Crystal clear waters, steady trade winds and sunny weather will be the building blocks of excellent racing conditions.

Last year, with 45 riders, the trade winds on full blast, Orient Bay was the décor of many exciting moments on the water. New records were set in the challenging conditions and friendships were made as competitors across the world connected. As travel restrictions are being lifted and life turns back to normal the organization is confident that this year (December 09-11, 2022) they will run on full power!

As the addition of the new discipline (Wingfoiling) was considered a major success, the 2022 Caribbean Foiling Championships has officially included Wingfoiling in their standard format. The event will have a total of three (3) disciplines: Wing-, Wind- and Kitefoil, which will all feature Professional and Leisure classes.

Maxim van den Pol (organizer of the event) happily explains 'It is a weekend for adventure seekers and professionals, guaranteed to be full of smiles, comradery and sore muscles!'

The event will feature three days of racing, of which two (2) days will consist of fast pace course racing and one (1) day will be dedicated to the long-distance race, better known as the 'Around the Island Race'.

The "Around the island race" is the most anticipated race among competitors. In this 26 nautical mile lap, competitors will sail around the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, passing through Dutch and French waters in pursuit of the fastest time. Last year the record was broken, local rider Julien Quentel set a new time of 1h 12m 17s shaving over 15 minutes off the previous record.

After receiving many positive reactions about the long-distance race for the Wingfoil discipline, the organization has promised to organize at least one long distance race per class. Just like last year the Wingfoilers will not go fully around the island but instead sail a downwinder up to Long Bay.

''Amazing! Incredible! Epic!'' exclaimed wingfoilers Sammy Martin, Travis Mcgarry and Jan Enderslev after arriving in Long Bay while comparing their Strava courses.

Details about the courses, qualification rules and the safety protocol will be shared in the run up to the event.

To celebrate that registration is open, the early birds who register before the 31st of October will receive a 10% discount on their registration fee.

Register at caribbeanfoiling.com/register.

We hope to welcome you all to paradise from December 9-11, 2022!
