The 2022 Hamble Winter Series kicks off this Saturday, 1st October, with racing for the J70 and SB20 sports boats in the Hamble One Design Championships. This is the first weekend of two for the one designs, who will be joined by the Impala 28 Class, on October 15th & 16th, for the second weekend. For the J70s this will be the final chance to prepare before their World Championships in Monaco starting on the 14th October.

The main Hamble Winter Series fleet for IRC yachts will start its campaign on this Sunday 2nd October. This will be the first of eight weekends for these hardy souls who will complete twelve races finishing on the 27th November.

There are a good number of regular winter series competitors in the start list, including the two previous holders of the Yacht of the Series. Protis, Faroux 1/4 ton, Ian Southworth won it two years ago and also back is With Alacrity, Sigma 38, Chris & Vanessa Choules, who took the trophy last year.

The sponsor for this first weekend is The Bugle in Hamble, a pub whose association with HRSC goes back some 103 years. That's a lot of beer! General Manager, Yannick Hugoo, will be presenting some very generous vouchers for food at The Bugle, for the first placed boats in each class. The second and third place boats will have to make do with bottles.

Remember, if you don't come into the club to collect a prize, it will go to a boat that does.
