Signaling an enlarged structure and a globally unified approach to scaling its business, the inventors of OSCAR Artificial Intelligence systems have decided to change the brand name to SEA.AI.

Founded in 2018 and based in Austria, France, Portugal and the US, the tech startup had previously used the names OSCAR, BSB Artificial Intelligence and BSB Marine for its different branches and products. From now on, all products and all corporate entities will be gathered together under the new umbrella SEA.AI.

"SEA.AI reflects our leadership position in providing crews with advanced assistance systems based on artificial intelligence," comments Managing Partner Christoph Ballin. "It describes what we do in the shortest possible way - just five letters."

SEA.AI systems alert crews early and reliably about objects on the water. Using latest camera technology combined with artificial intelligence, SEA.AI detects and classifies objects, including those that escape conventional systems such as Radar or AIS: unsignalled craft, floating obstacles, buoys, inflatables, kayaks, even people in the water.

Originally introduced as collision avoidance systems for ocean racing yachts, the products quickly evolved to full-spectrum lookout supports on motor yachts, government vessels and commercial ships.

The new SEA.AI brand will be used immediately, starting with the upcoming events at the Monaco Yacht Show and IBEX Tampa.
