Packed racing schedule at premier venue for 29er, 420, ILCA, RS Aero and RS200 sailors

Entries are open for the North East Youth Championships at Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club with competitors from across the region and beyond invited to sign up.

The two-day event at Grimwith Reservoir near Skipton in North Yorkshire will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 December 2022 with a warm welcome guaranteed.

Supported by the RYA North East Regional Volunteer Team, the event is set to provide a great value weekend with a packed schedule of racing at one of the country's premier venues.

Entries are invited from sailors aged over 14 and under 22 on 31 December 2022, and an 8-race series is planned for the following classes: 29er, 420, ILCA (4,6 and 7), RS Aero (5,7 and 9) and RS200.

Organiser Erica Caswell, of Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club, said: "We are delighted to be hosting the North East Youth Championships and looking forward to welcoming competitors from across region and further afield for some really competitive racing.

"There will be full catering from our excellent galley throughout the weekend and with affordable entry fees and free on-site camping available, it's an ideal opportunity for youth sailors and university students to enjoy a sociable championship weekend."

Entry is open and the deadline for registering is midnight on Sunday 4 December 2022. The suggested entry donation is £30 for single handers and £40 for double handers. Free camping is available for tents and motorhomes from Friday afternoon to Sunday.

The first race on the Saturday will be at 11am with two races back-to-back in the morning followed by a break for lunch and two more back-to-back races in the afternoon.

Sunday will then see four races back-to-back followed by lunch and a prize-giving, with prizes for the winner of each class plus others awarded at the discretion of the organisers.
