Aprotec Ville de Geneve crowned J/70 Swiss Champions in Battle of Bodensee

The 2022 J/70 Swiss Championships took place on Lake Constance near Kreuzlingen, Switzerland from August 26th to 28th. Thirty-four teams enjoyed the regatta organized and hosted by the Yacht Club Kreuzlingen.

The Swiss and the international sailing elite sail in the J/70 class. It is not surprising that 20 top Swiss teams from Lake Geneva to Lake Constance were sailing in the "Battle of Bodensee"- the J/70 Swiss Championship. In addition, there were 11 teams from Germany and 2 from Austria.

While mountain lake weather forecasts can be notoriously wrong, the fleet was treated to mostly easterly breezes as a result of a powerful front moving across the northern part of Europe. Consequently, the fleet enjoyed an eight-race series over the three-day event!

Winning was Victor Casas's team on CER- APROTEC SA- Ville de Geneve, with a crew of Romain Defferrard, Guillaume Rol, and Nelson Mettraux. They posted a very consistent tally of 2-1-7-3-13-1-7-4 for a 25 pts net (after discard). Taking the silver was Kilian Wagen's DECOUVERTES-GEOMOD team of Marie Mazuay, Alec Ardin, Gregoire Siegwart, and Will Ryan with a slightly more roller-coaster record of 8-10-19-2-7-2-1-5 for 35 pts net. Rounding out the podium taking the bronze medal was Stefan Seger's AILOA crew of Dominik Liener, Till Seger, Karin Nordstrom, and Matthias Fahrni with a scoreline of 4-4-2-6-14-7-17-2 for 39 pts net.
