2022 Hobie 16 World Championships in Costa Brava Pirineu de Girona, Spain - Day 4

by Hobie Racing 18 Sep 2022 13:05 PDT 15-29 September 2022

Day 4 Master's Division - Day 4 was the final day of racing in the master's division of the Hobie 16 World Championships, and it was a wet and windy one.

The day started with the typical pattern of light offshore breeze with an onshore postponement. As temperatures warmed the wind rotated right and filled in with an onshore thermal at 12:30. As with day 1, the wind was rapidly building but the sea state was quite challenging with large waves left over from the strong wind the previous day. What started out looking like a light wind day, quickly became breezy and very wet. Keeping the boat driving upwind in the waves was challenging and a few crews got washed off and did some swimming.

Final results, Cam OWEN/Susan GHENT (AUS) are the new masters champions, followed by Darren SMITH/Claire BISGOOD (AUS), Stefan GRIESMEYER/Caterina DEGLI UBERTI (ITA).

Tomorrow, we transition to the next division, the Women/Youth/Grand Masters and Great Grand Masters start racing.
