World Sailing appoints leading sports governance professional as Director of Legal and Governance

World Sailing has appointed leading sports lawyer and governance professional Urvasi Naidoo as its new Director of Legal and Governance.

In the role of Director of Legal and Governance, Urvasi will have responsibility for the provision of legal advice to World Sailing's group companies and support compliance and governance of World Sailing in all areas. This includes advising and supporting the Board, Senior Management Team, Council, Committees, Commissions, and the Judicial Board on matters relating to corporate governance, World Sailing constitution and regulations, sport integrity, anti-doping, contracts and intellectual property.

As World Sailing continues its commitment to developing the sport globally, Urvasi's appointment also strengthens the support and guidance available to Member National Authorities and the international sailing community.

Urvasi joins World Sailing from the Commonwealth Games Federation. She has over 20 years' experience in the sports sector having previously worked at the International Cricket Council, the Salt Lake Organising Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics, the London 2012 Olympics, World Netball, British Canoeing and the Union Cycliste Internationale. She is an independent member of the International Tennis Federation's Ethics Commission and is also a Non-Executive Director at Surrey County Cricket Club.
