On Monday, 15th August 2022, Skipper Norbert Sedlacek Koch will leave the Vendée Globe pontoon, Les Sables d'Olonne at 10 AM UTC+2 for his project ANT ARCTIC LAB, to sail around the world nonstop, single-handed, without assistance through all five oceans including the most dangerous oceans on the planet: the Arctic Ocean and Southern Ocean.

Remember the days you packed for a road trip holiday? Now, it is time for Norbert to pack for more than six months at sea! This challenge will cover at least 32.000 nautical miles, around 200 days at sea sailing alone, nonstop, and without outside help. Therefore all the necessary equipment will have their "boarding" today.

Norbert Sedlacek Koch who is also Founder and Managing Director of Innovation Yachts will embark on his Innovation Yachts Open60AAL and carry a total of 1.2 tons of equipment on board. The IY Open60AAL was designed and built by Innovation Yachts using fully sustainable and recyclable materials like volcanic fiber, balsa wood and biocompatible epoxy. Therefore the project will test to the limits "real sustainable" boat building solutions - such as recyclable composites, harmless matrix systems and natural core materials.

Therefore this challenge is not only a world record attempt. The aim of this record challenge is also to promote trustful sustainable sailing, because the sailing yacht, the Innovation Yachts Open60AAL, is fully electric and will be powered only by renewable energy like wind, hydro generators and solar power. This means clean boat building and zero emission sailing, even for a long distance through the most dangerous water on our planet through ice, stormy water, and doldrums.

See you on the Vendée Globe pontoon, Les Sables d'Olonne, on Monday, 15th August 2022 at 10 AM UTC+2 to wish Norbert "fair winds" as he sets off for his extreme sailing world record attempt.
