RS21 International Class Association open entries for the inaugural RS21 World Championship

by International RS21 Class Association 13 Aug 2022 00:28 PDT 3-6 November 2022

The International RS21 Class Association, in collaboration with RS Sailing and the JK BRIVA Sailing Club, is pleased to announce the inaugural RS21 World Championship entries are now open.

Following on from the successful European Championships in Malcesine, Lake Garda in 2021, the International RS21 Class expect around 40-50 RS21's to compete to become the first RS21 World Champion. Entries are expected from Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Australia and the United States, as well as the home nation, Croatia.

The event will be taking place in Biograd Na Moru on Croatia's Dalmatian Coast from 3 to the 6 November. JK BRIVA Sailing Club have hosted many world class international competitions over the years, and it is a fantastic venue to race at.

Michiel Geerling, Commercial Director of RS Sailing and RS21 sailor, commented, "Since the launch of the boat, I've done quite a bit of RS21 racing myself and I love sailing it. The concept of the class is so strong, which has developed a couple of really good international fleets. Racing against the best, although more challenging is always more fun, and there will definitely be some good competition there. This inaugural RS21 World Championships will set the standard for many more to come, at stunning locations, with great racing and good friends."

Held over four days from 3 to the 6 November, with a practice race on the Wednesday 2, sailors can expect to have as much fun onshore as they will on the water. With lots of social opportunities to rub shoulders with fellow sailors, the event will start with an Official Opening Ceremony on Wednesday evening and end in style with a Gala Dinner on the Saturday. To keep fair racing developing from last year, the International Jury will be afloat, acting as umpires to ensure more time is spent socialising onshore and less time discussing incidents on the water.

Entry to the event is €950, and charter boats will be available for €3,000 for those wishing to attend without transporting their boats. There are special offers available for those who book early.

Head to the International RS21 Class website for more information. Interested teams can register their interest by contacting the RS21 Class Manager Jack Fenwick by emailing .
