These fun, family-friendly, nautical events challenge contestants to design, build, and race small boats, utilizing only 5/8th plywood and lumber, zip ties, and fast-curing Sikaflex®-291 as the adhesive and sealant to keep their marine craft afloat. That's right - no nails, screws, or other mechanical fastening devices are allowed.

Sikaflex® Challenge events, typically held at summer festivals, have featured a ton of fun and one-of-a-kind designs over the years, from tugboats to battleships, rubber duckies, and even crocodiles. Each year, Sika is always impressed with the creative design concepts that participants come up with!

"Sika is very proud to continue the tradition of sponsoring the Sikaflex® Challenge," said Mark Daniels, VP Transportation A&C. "As a leading supplier of elastic sealant and adhesive systems specifically designed for the marine marketplace, we believe this is a great opportunity to support our local community festivals and events that are held on the water with this fun, nautical event."

Prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place finishers in the true test, the sea trials. Race winners receive the coveted Sikaflex® Challenge Cup. Additionally, trophies are awarded for Best Design and Fastest Build.

Sika has continuously sponsored numerous Sikaflex® Challenge Build-a-Boat contests for more than 40 years. These events are a great showcase of Sika's continued commitment to the marine community.
