Waking up on day 2 we were again presented with mirror calm conditions in beautiful Largs. After an hour's postponement the wind started to fill and the fleets were instructed to go afloat. The breeze was from the south today but still with some big shifts and wind ranging from 5-15 knots.
The Senior Main Fleet were first off with the usual suspects in the mix. The race committee had their work cut out along with the marks boats, with multiply changes to the course both in direction and distance in all of the 3 races.
After the 3 super shifty races Joe Wimpory, Lila Edwards and Will Fletcher came out on top in the seniors.
The Juniors found it equally tough with a lot of gains to be made on the right hand side of the course meaning that those that got it right had a pretty rosy day. The stand out performances in this fleet were from Hugo Fletcher and Eliana Edwards and Spain's Pau Casas.
Sparkling sailing conditions made for a fantastic day out on the water for Regatta Racing, with the fleet completing 4 races. Really well done to Charlie Knights, Monty Remfrey and Angus Millar who made great progress throughout the day.
Following shore drills with the coaches our littlest yachties in the Coached Regatta fleet launched into more wind than the day before and with sailors' confidence building, the mornings learning was soon over and it was time for lunch and a regroup.
Most joined in with the regatta racing fleet in the afternoon and completed three races around the championship course. The wind was steady and well behaved and there was enough of it for most to sit on the rail with the lightweights hiking to stay in control. For half a dozen sailors who felt they weren't quite ready for big fleet racing coaches ran a series of mini races close to shore.
