On Friday 29 July Overy Staithe SC welcomed competitors taking part in the 2022 North West Norfolk Week with an early morning sail making the most of the available wind and providing a sunny sail in beautiful conditions.

Race Officer Andy Turner set a course which made the most of the available 'inshore' water, the wind having been judged to not be strong enough to take the fleet out to sea.

Having set the line and got ready for the 6 minute gun a huge wind shift saw the course being changed, but thankfully this time the wind held direction.

With one of the largest turnouts of the week - a total of 22 boats competing for the day - the N12 fleet started first followed by a large Allcomers fleet. With low tides and the inevitable sandbank issues racing provided some challenges and excitement with places changing throughout.

John Thompson, who runs the ferry 'Welcome' at Overy, provided supporters with the chance to get out on the water and watch the racing 'close hand'.

National 12 fleet:

1st Kevin and Lindsey Iles
2nd Ian and Alex Gore
3rd Steve and Jo Sallis

Allcomers fleet:

1st Hugh Jones (Aero 7)
2nd Jasper Barnham (Solo)
3rd Godfrey Clark (Solo)
