"Whitecap": the Canadian sailing podcast - New episode now available with Tom Ramshaw

by Sail Canada 30 Jul 2022 16:10 PDT

The 3rd episode of "Whitecap", the Canadian sailing podcast, is now available, featuring two-time Canadian Olympian and Canada SailGP Team member Tom Ramshaw.

One of the most successful Canadian dinghy sailors of the last two Olympic cycles, Tom Ramshaw took the 21st spot at the 2016 Olympic Games, and the 10th position at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. By qualifying for the Medal Race and finishing 10th, Tom Ramshaw has come up with the best Canadian performance in the Finn class since Chris Cook finished 5th in 2008 in Beijing. It was also the fourth best Canadian result in this event since Terence Neilson won the bronze medal in Los Angeles in 1984.

Following Tokyo 2020, he switched to the ILCA 7 class since Finn is not in the Olympic program anymore for Paris 2024. As jib trimmer and grinder, he is also an integral part of Canada SailGP Team's successes in their inaugural season as Canada is currently sitting in 2nd spot in the overall ranking.

In this "Whitecap" podcast, Tom Ramshaw is talking about different topics, including being part of the Finn's last Olympics, his new hobby of wing foiling and what it's like to go 85 km/h on the F50 in SailGP.
