The New Zealand SailGP Team will hit British waters with a new major partner on board this weekend, welcoming global wealth management firm Alvarium to the family ahead of the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Plymouth.

The partnership will see Alvarium become the Official Wealth Management Partner of the New Zealand SailGP Team and New Zealand Sail Grand Prix.

Alvarium Investments NZ is part of the broader Alvarium wealth management platform which employs more than 200 staff in 14 offices around the world. With strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) credentials, Alvarium is a global leader in responsible investing and owner of New Zealand award-winning sustainable investment manager Pathfinder.

An international firm with a strong domestic presence in Auckland and Christchurch, Alvarium is well aligned with SailGP's presence in New Zealand as well as the league's footprint and expansion into markets around the world.

Alvarium marks four partner announcements for the New Zealand SailGP Team in 2022, with today's news following hot on the heels of the appointment of Rodd & Gunn as Official Merchandise Partner in May. The team also welcomed Zhik and ITM as partners earlier in the year.

New Zealand SailGP Team co-CEO Peter Burling says, "It's incredibly exciting to welcome Alvarium as a major partner for the New Zealand SailGP Team and the New Zealand Sail Grand Prix," he says.

"We share a lot of synergies with Alvarium and throughout all of our discussions we really valued and appreciated their stance on socially and environmentally responsible investing. They're an industry leader in that space and it's great to have them on board."

Debuting Alvarium's brand boldly on the hull of New Zealand's F50 catamaran, Amokura, in practice racing today, Burling says, "It's great to have this momentum building behind the team, particularly as we head into our home event in March next year."

Brett Gamble, Alvarium Investments NZ Director says that for his team, the feeling is mutual.

"The New Zealand SailGP Team is well recognised and respected as a purpose-driven sports team and that really resonated with Alvarium's own values."

"We care deeply about building a healthier future and admire how SailGP is using sport as a catalyst to shift attitudes and behaviour around environmental and social issues alike. That is something we are hugely excited to stand alongside," Gamble says.

"Having witnessed the growth of the league in New Zealand and around the world, we can't wait to experience the excitement of SailGP on our home shores in March next year."
