2022 USA Youth Worlds Coaching Staff:

  • Phil Muller, Team Leader
  • Dane Wilson, Coach
  • Steve Keen, Coach

This year's team is made up of sailors from all corners of the USA, stretching from Hawaii to Connecticut. Led by Team Leader, Phil Muller, the group has prepared domestically for racing starting Sunday off the coast of Scheveningen.

"The Youth World Championships is my favorite event in our sport," said Muller. "It's the most competitive in youth sailing as it draws the top talent from each participating nation. Our team here has been working hard at home over the past several months, and most recently at our national base in Long Beach. We are eager to test our metal in the North Sea."

"Thinking beyond performance," Muller continued, "this event is unique in how well it establishes our athlete's national pride as well as bonds of international camaraderie. These relationships last a lifetime. As a coaching staff, we are thrilled to support our young talent as they put their best effort forth this week."

"We had a great team camp in June with training partners that came out to support the Youth Worlds Team," said Olympic Development Director, Leandro Spina. "It was a fantastic group effort to help the team put their best foot forward in The Hague. While we have 15 athletes competing for the USA, there are so many more back home that had a part in their preparation. It speaks highly of the foundation of youth sailors we're building in the US. We're getting stronger together, and it's this generation of sailors that will become tomorrow's Olympians."

Schedule:

  • Friday, July 8: Registration & Equipment Inspection
  • Saturday, July 9: Competitors Briefing, Practice Race, Opening Ceremony
  • Sunday, July 10 - Thursday, July 14: Races
  • Thursday, July 14: Closing Ceremony

Special thank you to Quantum Racing for supporting the US Sailing Team Olympic Development Program (ODP), and to AmericaOne for believing in the ODP vision from the beginning and pushing the mission forward.
