It was Sunday afternoon when the boats started to arrive in Sines, with little wind across the harbour the boats had an easy time mooring on the pontoons of Marina de Sines and the whole fleet was in just before 2200hrs.

The next morning the participants meet at the entrance to Sines Castle and museum, where the welcome reception for the participants was given by the representative of Sines Town Hall, Paula Ledo and representatives from the local tourism office and curator of the museum.

Prize giving followed and in addition to the sailing and ETA prizes ARKYLA were awarded the coverted artist award for best mural painted on the breakwater in Oeiras marina.

Afterwards the participants visited the museum, where they learnt about the history of the town of Sines, the collection from the Palaeolithic to the 20th century, and also the history of the Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama, ending with a lovely brunch.

When it was over the participants had a few hours free to explore the city, before checking out at the end of the day at the marina.

Tuesday morning the start of leg 7 began at 0600hrs and the fleet headed to Lagos for their final destination of ARC Portugal 2022.
